Bei einem Treffen des türkischen Außenministers Hakan Fidan mit seinem russischen Amtskollegen Sergej Lawrow in Antalya erklärte Fidan gegenüber Reporter*innen am Sonntag (3.März), dass er hoffe, dass bald Gespräche über einen Waffenstillstand in der Ukraine beginnen werden, wie Euractiv berichtete. “On the issue of Ukraine, our view is that both sides have reached the limits of what they can get by war. We think that it is time to start a dialogue for a ceasefire,” so Fidan. Dies bedeutete nicht, dass die russische Besetzung anerkannt werde, aber die Fragen der Souveränität und des Waffenstillstands sollten getrennt diskutiert werden, so Fidan weiter. “The death and injury of more than 500,000 people and the complete destruction of the infrastructure and superstructure of an entire country is not a reality that is bearable for us,” so der türkische Außenminister nach Angaben von Euractiv. “This has to stop somehow.
