Schon im Januar erkor der neue US-Präsident Joseph Biden Samantha Power als neue Chefin der einflussreichen USAID aus. Power gilt als Hardlinerin, unter anderem spielte sie eine zentrale Rolle dabei, den Libyen-Krieg vom Zaun zu brechen (siehe zB IMI-Analyse 2016/10 (FN3). Laut antiwar.com wurde sie nun vom Senat bestätigt: „ On Wednesday, the Senate confirmed Samantha Power to head the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in a vote of 68 to 26. Power is a hawkish veteran of the Obama administration who played a crucial role in the disastrous 2011 Libya intervention.” (jw)
