Im National Interest wird die Sorge geäußert, dass US-Präsident Trump Deutschland regelrecht in Richtung einer Supermacht-Politik dränge. Auch wenn dies im Gegensatz zur Auffassung des Artikelschreibers in Deutschland relevanten Kräften, die ohnehin auf eine „profiliertere“ deutsche Rolle abzielen, durchaus recht kommen dürfte, im Endeffekt läuft es auf dasselbe hinaus: “There is little appetite, at least as far as I could tell at a conference in Berlin sponsored by the American Council on Germany at the German Foreign Ministry, for transforming the country into a Fuehrungsmacht, or leading power.
