Aktuell laufen die Vprbereitungen für eine vorbereitende Maßnahme, die ab 2017 die Aufstellung eines EU-Rüstungsforschungshaushaltes ab 2021 auf den Weg bringen soll (siehe IMI-Studie 2016/03). Das European Networ Against Arms Trade hat nun eine ausführliche Kritik des Vorhabens veröffenlicht: „We appeal to you, as elected representative of EU citizens, to halt the inclusion of arms industry research into the EU 2017 budget. No EU money should go to the arms industry. Research funds should go to projects developing ways of resolving and preventing conflicts, and in particular to non-violent ways and ways tackling root-causes of instability such as climate change.“ (jw)
