Mary Kaldor, ist eine der führenden Vertreterinnen der „Theorie“ der neuen Kriege (siehe zur Kritik der Theorie AUSDRUCK (Februar 2006)). Gerne machte sie sich dabei auch immer wieder für eine „robuste“ Rolle der Europäischen Union stark, nun forderte sie allen Ernstes, EU-SoldatInnen hätten auch nach dem Abzug der US-Truppen in Afghanistan bleiben sollen: „Rather than providing logistical support for attacks on Islamist fighters, their task would have been to support the efforts of Afghan security forces to protect Afghans from attack and to monitor and help to guarantee agreements at all levels. They could have contributed to the kind of civilian-led stabilisation that had previously been proposed by the EU Institute of Strategic Studies.“ (jw)
