Das den Demokraten nahestehende Center for a New American Security veröffentlichte vor einiger Zeit den Bericht „THE NEW FACE OF FINANCIAL WARFARE“, der sich mit der immer beliebter werdenden „Fiskalischen Kriegsführung“ und den Bedingungen beschäftigt, wie die USA solche Finanzkriege „erfolgreich“ führen können: “During the last decade, U.S. policymakers have turned with increasing frequency to coercive economic measures – such as financial sanctions – to counter illicit activity and project American power. […] The features of the U.S. economy that underpin the ability to project power through the financial system include the preeminence of the dollar in global trade and finance, especially in the oil trade, and its attractiveness as a reserve currency. […] A decline in U.S. economic power would undercut the U.S. ability to impose CEMs [coercive economic measures]. There are signs that this process might already have begun.” (jw)
