Am Großmanöver „Defender 2020“ sollen vor allem im April und Mai 2020 insgesamt 30.000 Soldaten die Verlegung von Truppen an die NATO-Ostgrenze proben (siehe IMI-Standpunkt 2019/55). Die Webseite Breakingdefense hat nun eine erste vorsichtige Kostenschätzung für den US-Anteil veröffentlicht: „Moving and sustaining thousands of troops for months at a time, along with their tanks and armored vehicles, will cost the US about $340 million, US Army Europe officials said.“ (jw)
