Um die Finanzierung europäischer Militäreinsätze zu „verbessern“, aber auch um die Aufrüstung „befreundeter“ Akteure im Ausland auszubauen soll eine „Europäische Friedensfazilität“ mit ß0, Mrd. Euro (2021 bis 2027) geschaffen werden. Ein UN-Mitarbeiter im Südsudan hat im EUoberserver einige wichtige Kritikpunkte an dem Vorhaben zusammengetragen: “Firstly, weapons, particularly small arms, potentially have a very long service life span. They can, and often are, used years later and in very different contexts from those originally envisaged. […] Secondly, providing weapons to government security services in fragile countries does not reliably lead to greater influence and an ability to determine how and when the weapons are used. […] Lastly, there is a high likelihood that, even with mitigation strategies in place, some weapons provided to fragile countries will be used to commit atrocities.” (jw)
