Afghanistan: CIA-Drohnen

Newsweek (via Bpb-Newsletter) berichtet über Pläne der US-Regierung, die CIA mit der Befugnis auszustatten, in Afghanistan Drohnenangriffe durchführen zu dürfen (bislang „darf“ sie das „nur“ in Pakistan). Dies habe den „Vorteil“, dass die Angriffe und etwaige Zivilopfer nicht dokumentiert werden müssten: „The CIA is pushing for approval to conduct lethal drone strikes in Afghanistan for the first time, an idea that some in the Pentagon reportedly worry could place U.S. troops in danger. […] The Pentagon publicly acknowledges the drone strikes it conducts, which includes information on civilian casualties, but the CIA is not required to do so.” (jw)
