Das italienische „Istituto Affari Internazionali“ veröffentlichte unlängst die Studie „The Geopolitical Impact of TTIP”. Die Kernthese: das Abkommen stelle ein wesentliches Mittel zur Wiedererlangung der westlichen Vorherrschaft dar: “The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) […] represents a chance to reassert US and European leadership in developing new global trade rules and, at the same, establish an open platform that can embrace other countries sharing a common commitment to trade liberalization.“ Für mehr zu den geopolitischen Implikationen von TTIP siehe IMI-Studie 2014/05.
