Wenn defensenews.com von einer modifizierten Version der Forschungsagentur des Pentagon DARPA spricht, die sich die NATO nun zulegen will, ist das wohl einige Nummern zu hoch gehängt. Dass die NATO aber in Sachen High-Tech-Kriegführung stärker selbst aktiv werden will, ist ein Ergebnis des jüngsten NATO-Gipfels in Brüssel (siehe IMI-Analyse 2021/32). Und ein Instrument, dass dafür geschaffen werden soll, hört auf den griffigen Namen “Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic” (DIANA): “The goal is to have DIANA reach initial operating capability (IOC) by 2023, David van Weel, assistant secretary-general for emerging security challenges, said […]. In the long term, DIANA will have headquarters both in North America and in Europe, and link to existing test centers throughout NATO member countries that will be used for ‘validating, testing, and co-designing applications in the field of emerging and disruptive technologies,’ van Weel said.” (jw)
