Polen: Noch mehr US-Präsenz!

Das Polen seit einiger Zeit massiv für einen Ausbau der ohnehin schon 4.000 Soldaten umfassenden US-Präsenz im Land wirbt („Fort Trump“!) ist schon länger bekannt (siehe IMI-Aktuell 2018/527). Dies scheint nun laut Financial Times beschlossen worden zu sein, auch wenn eine konkrete Zahl noch nicht genannt worden sei, werde die Erhöhung “significant” ausfallen, sagt die US-Botschafterin in Warschau: „The US plans to significantly increase its troop numbers in Poland as the Trump administration ratchets up its engagement in central Europe, according to the country’s ambassador to Warsaw. […] Asked whether the increase would run into the hundreds or thousands, Ms Mosbacher said: ‘It will be significant. It passes the hundred mark, the hundreds mark.’” (jw)
