Der Indische Ozean gewinnt in der Militärplanung zunehmend an Bedeutung. DefenseNews berichtet, das Pentagon trage sich mit dem Gedanken, dieser Entwicklung durch eine Umbenennung der Pazifikkommando in Indo-Pazifisches Kommando Rechnung zutragen: „ The Pentagon may soon be announcing a new name for its largest area of operations, with a change to Indo-Pacific Command to “better encapsulate the responsibilities the command currently has,” Pentagon spokesman Army Col.
