Syrien: Stellvertreterkrieg?

Die New York Times berichtet, aktuell spiele sich in Syrien ein regelrechter Stellvertreterkrieg ab. Die USA hätten ihre Waffenlieferungen an syrische Aufständische enorm intensiviert, v.a. würden verstärkt TOW Panzerabwehrraketen ins Land gelassen, die große „Erfolge“ gegen die von Russland unterstützten Regierungstruppen erzielen würden. Aus Sicht von Antiwar.com handelt es sich hierbei um den dritten großen Strategiewechsel der USA in Syrien: “So the US strategy in Syria is shifting once again, initially focused on regime change, then focused on destroying ISIS, and now, having given up more or less on both of those, they just want to see Russia fail, and the administration seems comfortable with the possibility that US-made weapons will be destroying Russian tanks and helicopters.” (jw)
